Diablo Valley Cabinetry was founded in 1982 with a straightforward idea: we saw a need for a more personal approach to cabinetry in the East Bay and set out to fill it. Not a big-box experience where you're handed a catalog and sent on your way. A real relationship, guided by people who care about the outcome as much as you do.
That philosophy has guided us ever since. Over the past 40+ years, we've grown from a focused cabinetry showroom into a full-service design partner, adding interior design services, plumbing fixtures, hardware, countertops, and a dedicated commercial division along the way. Each expansion has been intentional, driven by the evolving needs of our clients and a clear understanding of what it takes to deliver a truly seamless project experience.
We've had the privilege of serving thousands of homeowners from LaMorinda to the Tri-Valley, San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek, and the broader East Bay. Since 2004, Frank Canova has led Diablo Valley Cabinetry with a commitment to exceptional client experiences, trusted relationships, and thoughtful design. After earning his degree in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and spending time as a technology consultant, Frank joined forces with his father in the family business. Together, they built DVC into a long-standing, trusted resource for homeowners, contractors, and developers across the Greater Bay Area.
Over the years, Frank has found that his favorite part of running a small business is building relationships that last - with clients, trade partners, vendors, and especially with the Diablo Valley Cabinetry team he has the privilege to support and mentor each day.
Frank also values working alongside industry professionals who share a commitment to exceptional client experiences; he believes there is nothing more rewarding than helping create spaces that enhance the ways people live, work, and come together.
Frank was born and raised in the East Bay and now lives in Walnut Creek with his wife and two daughters. His faith, family, relationships, and commitment to serving others are central to who he is and shape both his personal life and leadership style. Outside of work, Frank regularly helps other small business owners grow and stretch in healthy ways, actively supports under-resourced Bay Area organizations, invests heartily in personal and community growth, and connects with other local businesses to make a positive impact.
He feels deeply blessed by his wife and daughters who continually inspire him through their character, passions, and the energy with which they engage the world around them. When Frank isn't working, you'll find him cycling up Mt. Diablo, hiking to new peaks, traveling, or exploring the world with family and friends.
Cristina Maryott has been the Design Manager at Diablo Valley Cabinetry since 2022 and brings more than 30 years of design experience to every project. Early in her career, a mentor introduced her to the full scope of design, construction, and architecture, sparking a lifelong passion for kitchen and bath work. Before joining DVC, she designed both architectural layouts and interiors for design-build firms, giving her a rare, full-picture understanding of how a space comes together. Cristina enjoys every scale of project, from a single room to a full home, and thinks of her role a bit like a doctor's: clients come to her because something in their space isn't working, and she helps diagnose and fix the problem. Her proudest moments come when a client says they wouldn't change a thing. Patient and attentive, she designs for her clients rather than herself, and she's learned over the years never to skip a step in the process. Cristina grew up in Southern California before her family relocated to the East Bay, where she's lived since 2004. She stays close to family and enjoys traveling when she can.
Emily Louw joined Diablo Valley Cabinetry in November 2014 after years in customer service roles at companies both large and small. When the opportunity came to join the DVC family, it felt like a natural fit. As Office Manager, Emily enjoys being the first face people see when they walk into the showroom and helping make that first connection between potential clients and the design team. No two days look alike, and she's always ready to lend a hand wherever it's needed. She's proud of how the support team lifts up the design team, and she sees DVC's longevity as proof of the care the company puts into every relationship. Clients and coworkers describe Emily as friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic, and she leads with a smile in every interaction. A California girl through and through, having lived everywhere from Chico to San Jose, her heart belongs to the Bay Area. Outside of work, she's the lead singer of a band called The Elmwoods, and she shares her home with her husband, two dogs, and a desert tortoise.
Hope Hernandez has been with Diablo Valley Cabinetry since 1988, with seven of those years in design where she brings bold creativity and meticulous attention to detail to every remodel. She sees herself as a true partner throughout her clients' remodeling journey, following up after every meeting with a clear recap so no one is left guessing what comes next. One of her favorite projects, a full home renovation in Danville, called for solving one custom design challenge after another, and watching it come together is exactly what keeps her motivated. Esperanza is originally from Fremont and now calls San Ramon home, and outside of work she enjoys dancing, singing, and hunting for vintage finds. Her approach to design is simple: no limits.
Andie Graff grew up watching her father work as a flooring contractor, and that early exposure to construction gave her a natural feel for interior design. She began her career specifying finishes for production homes before finding her calling in kitchen and bath design, and has been part of the Diablo Valley Cabinetry team since 2023. Andie treats every client as an individual, shaping her approach around what fits their space and their life rather than whatever is trending. She has a particular interest in universal design, spaces that remain functional and beautiful through every stage of life, and is also drawn to rustic and coastal aesthetics. Clients describe her as service-oriented, detailed, and creative, and one of her proudest moments was seeing her design work featured by a vendor partner. Born and raised around the Bay Area, Andie spends her free time crafting, baking, reading and enjoying music.
Shannon Gabriel brings a technical eye and a problem solver's mindset to her role as a Junior Designer, drawing on experience since 2007 as a drafter and junior designer at design-build firms before joining Diablo Valley Cabinetry four and a half years ago. She found her way into kitchen and bath through a college professor and NKBA mentor, and the industry's attention to detail has kept her hooked ever since. What keeps Shannon motivated is simple: finding the solution to a problem and picking up a new skill along the way. She grew up in the East Bay and returned here after ten years in Las Vegas, where she earned her degree in interior design and started her career. Outside of work she's happiest gardening, trying a new recipe, or hiking with family. Her promise to every client: she'll advocate for them until the job is done.
Margie Allen has been part of Diablo Valley Cabinetry's story since 2007, within a design career that spans more than 40 years. Her passion for design started early, building dollhouses, Lego creations, and even a chicken coop, a curiosity that carried her through architectural drawing classes and eventually to a design degree at UC Davis. Margie specializes in solving spaces that just aren't working, adapting layouts to fit her clients' real wants, needs, and lifestyle. Many arrive overwhelmed by the scope of a remodel or new build, looking for someone experienced to guide them through it. One of her proudest projects was a large new-build home in Reno, completed during the pandemic despite supply chain delays and a long list of custom details. Clients describe her as knowledgeable, thoughtful, and a good listener who thinks outside the box, guided by one core belief: the client comes first, always. Margie grew up in Orinda and still calls the East Bay home. Outside of work, she cooks, gardens, sews, camps, and spends time with her three sons and friends, always eager to try something new.
Lillian Toth’s experience in kitchen and bath design provides a strong foundation for her role as Procurement Specialist at Diablo Valley Cabinetry. She previously spent six years with DVC as a designer before moving away and has recently returned to the company. Her interest in the kitchen and bath industry began at an early age, when her five older brothers would take her along to construction sites. That early exposure grew into a natural interest in remodeling and design. One of the most rewarding parts of Lillian’s work is helping clients navigate a process that can be both exciting and stressful. She enjoys making the experience feel more organized and manageable. Lillian has lived most of her life in the Bay Area before recently relocating to Austin, Texas. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and finding creative ways to transform thrift store finds into something beautiful.
Derek Connolly has been with Diablo Valley Cabinetry's Multi-Unit Division since 2024, a role that formally kicked off his design career even though he'd been thinking about space and how it's used for as long as he can remember. Before DVC, his time in residential construction laid the groundwork for the transition. What motivates Derek most is the people: his coworkers, trade partners, and clients, and the chance to learn something new about each of them, and about the trade, every day. He takes real pride in his team's ability to anticipate obstacles before they happen and find creative solutions on the fly. Derek is from Lafayette, and when he's not at work, he's happiest outdoors, ideally somewhere in the mountains.
Ron Castaldo has been on Diablo Valley Cabinetry's Multi-Unit team since 2018, bringing an eye for process and accuracy from his background in buying, an unrelated industry, before he found his place here. He handles measuring, ordering, and the many moving pieces that keep a multi-unit project on schedule, work where precision matters since a single missed detail can ripple across an entire building. What drives Ron is straightforward: processing orders on time and keeping every project moving forward for the team and the client. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking and traveling with his wife, Sheryl.
Natasha Scholvin joined Multi-Unit division of Diablo Valley Cabinetry in 2014, bringing 7 years of prior experience in residential kitchen and bath remodeling and construction. After earning her master’s degree in architecture, Natasha pivoted from working as an architect to corporate America and gave more than a decade to freight logistics, contract administration, sales analysis and reporting, before eventually returning to the design field. Today she specializes in cabinetry submittals for multi-unit housing, from individual living units to shared common areas, and takes real pride in clean, clear presentation drawings. Multi-unit design calls for a different kind of rigor than residential work: less about creative inspiration, more about the technical coordination that keeps a large project on track, since any error gets multiplied across dozens of units. What motivates Natasha is exactly that: thorough coordination, catching potential issues before they happen, and positive feedback from architects and general contractors on a job well done. Upon her immigration to the United States in 2001, Natasha lived and worked in the East Bay for over 20 years before relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. Her interests outside of work include alpine skiing, tennis, fitness, fashion, as well as various kinds of arts and crafts. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, discovering new places, decorating her house, playing piano and painting.
Chris Miller has been part of Diablo Valley Cabinetry since 2013, working as a Service Technician on residential service projects. Before joining DVC, he worked for a general contractor that collaborated frequently with DVC designers. Chris specializes in all things cabinetry, and building cabinets is the work he enjoys most. What he finds most rewarding is seeing the final result and knowing the client is happy with it. One project he's especially proud of is a Blackhawk kitchen from 2020, his biggest kitchen to date, filled with personal touches and finished beautifully. Clients describe Chris as easy to work with, detail-oriented, and always ready with a can-do attitude, and he steps into every project excited for the work ahead. Chris grew up in Dublin, California, and now lives in Livermore with his wife and two daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys getting out in nature, whether it's a hike or a day at the ocean.
